Eternal Sunshine of the Hidden Hydrology

The image of Los Angeles as a perpetually sunny oasis is dependent on importing fresh water from the Owens River while the seasonal rains are flushed as quickly as possible to the Pacific through the concrete channeled LA River. Eternal Sunshine of the Hidden Hydrology proposes a storm-water capture system of detention and retention tanks that hold water for irrigation and to recharge the aquifer in an effort to counter the extensive impermeable sprawl of the city’s roadways.
